Cracker Barrel's Famous Chocolate Cherry Cobbler
Cracker Barrel's Famous Chocolate Cherry Cobbler
This cherry cobbler recipe eats more like a brownie than a cobbler. A sweet, thick sea of Maraschino cherries rests beneath a deliciously dense chocolate cakey layer,
making this "cobbler" one you won't soon forget. Topped off with a sprinkling of your choice of nuts and a helping of whipped cream.
1/4 cup butter (softened)
1 cup dark chocolate chips
1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup milk
1 egg
2 (21-ounce) cans cherry pie filling
Generously grease 9x13-inch baking dish. Set aside.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Place chocolate chips into a glass or metal bowl and add butter. Melt together in the microwave, stirring ever 30 seconds until smooth. Allow chocolate mixture to cool for at least 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and butter.
Stir milk and egg into the cooled chocolate, then stir the dry ingredients into the chocolate, in batches, until completely combined.
Spread pie filling in the bottom of the prepared bake dish, then top with the chocolate mixture. Bake for 40-45 minutes.
Cool and serve with whipped cream and maraschino cherry garnish if desired.
